In this case however, I went for the ordinary solid walls. By using the size of the standard board, we achieved quite a humble and cozy expression. Especially when placed in this big void that is the fair hall. "- Magnus Elebäck "The sisal carpet added a nice softness and texture that supported the furniture in a gentle way."- Magnus Elebäck

Founders of Massproductions, Magnus Elebäck and Chris Martin. In the recently "The Ultimate Dandy" exhibition at Nordiska Galleriet Archives, three leopard-print Dandy Sofas took center stage in a curated space by Massproductions, alongside with artists Niklas Blomkvist and Truls Mårtensson. Together, they fashioned a Bohemian atmosphere that celebrated art and the finer aspects of life. Niklas featured sketches and paintings of notable dandies while Mårtensson exhibited three glazed ceramic works portraying ashtrays. "When I met Bengt Thornefors (creative director at Sahco) and he was sneaking a peek at what they were going to release this year, my eyes fell on a really nice leopard print wool fabric. An unexpected combination but so damn nice. Dressing our new Dandy 3-seater sofa in that fabric kind of tied the knot in a nice way."- Magnus Elebäck Dinner with the International press tour. DJ set by Magnuscc. "Niklas is a close friend and a true Dandy. In his artistry, he has devoted a large part to portraying his role models and sources of inspiration. Not infrequently both male and female dandies. Both Niklas and Truls work in an unforced and seemingly fast technique that I admire. Their works help to create a whole while their fantastic objects in themselves."- Magnus Elebäck Yoann Durant, the French artist, performed at the party. ABOUT NIKLAS BLOMKVIST ”I have been working with my art, drawing, and painting since 1989 when I attended a 2-year preparatory art education at Eskilstuna Folkhögskola. This was followed by courses in art at Konstskolan Stockholm and studies in the history of photography at Konstfack. I have never taken a break from theactual work. In 1993, I had my first solo exhibition and have since exhibited in both museums and galleries. I work and live in both Stockholm, where I have a studio in Liljeholmen, and in Hamburg. My work emerge both through a constant relationship with the surroundings and environment, concretely through curiosity and a need to depict what I see, and through internal processes where I ”construct” my works through references and various layers of meaning. A constant in my drive is how something looks when it is done by ME.” Nordiska Galleriet Archive in Frihamnen, Stockholm. "Jean Cocteau is fascinating, both as a person and as an artist. He’s like the ultimate dandy. An image has stuck in my head from his extravagant home where the walls were covered in leopard print wallpaper. - Magnus Elebäck Axel Söderberg, CEO at Nordiska Galleriet Group and Massproduction's Designer in Chief, Chris Martin. DJ set by Bella Boo. The artists Niklas Blomkvist and Truls Mårtensson. ABOUT TRULS MÅRTENSSON Truls Mårtensson (b, 1993) works with ceramics to transform the societal consumer culture into his pieces, where his references to historical pop-art do not go unnoticed. The critique of a digitalized and capitalistic society in relation to his medium creates a unavoidable clash between worlds.Images by Andy Liffner and Pierre Björk.

THE PATCH SOFA SYSTEM

PATCH SOFA SYSTEM Duffelbags, moc toe boots and a string of sausages. Explore our newest sofa, Patch! Duffelbags, moc toe boots and a string of sausages. Explore our newest sofa, Patch! Inviting, friendly, casual and sumptuous – these are the qualities represented by “Patch”, a new modular sofa system designed by Chris Martin, Designer in Chief and founder of Massproductions. "By replacing large volumes of foam with pocket springs we were able to not only save resources but also facilitate a comfort superior to regular foams and webbing straps. The springs give a buoyant experience with no dead zones.”- Chris Martin,Designer in Chief "A massive sofa system isn’t the type of product that a young company would launch, we are almost out of our teenage years now, and in the context of our collection Patch just seems to fill a space and fit.”- Magnus Elebäck,Creative Director and FOUNDER Patch is characterized by its distinctive lozenge shaped backrest panels and features a construction that minimizes the use of polyurethane foam, incorporating steel springs from the bedding industry and clever corners. An up turned duffle bag, a moc toe boot, a string of sausages – all of these influences are relevant to the design expression of the sofa with its distinctive lozenge shaped “patches”. The rounded forms of the top panels soften the large volumes of the seating and backrest modules, giving Patch its distinctive character. Step inside the Iljinas family house... Originally owned by railway engineer Jurgis Iljinas and his wife Alexandra, the couple purchased the plot of land from Pranas Gudavicius, the owner of an adjacent apartment building. Designed by the renowned engineer and architect Arnas Funkas, the house at K. Donelacio 19 exuded the charm of an urban villa. In 1941, the ownership of the house changed hands, and it housed various occupants during the Soviet era, including singer Gražina Matulaitytė and her husband, journalist Aleksis Rannits. "The house was clearly conceived during the art-deco turns modernism transition phase which is as confusing as it is beautiful" MAGNUS ELEBÄCK Following a meticulous 2018 renovation that maintained the exterior and interior details, the building now shines in white, reminiscent of its Art Deco glory days. "Our Patch Sofa is produced in the charming little town of Kaunas. During one of many trips to Kaunas, I stumbled across the Ilijnas House on my morning run. The house had such a presence with its experimental, brave, early modernist façade. I had to know more about the house, and on the next trip I was able to see this well-preserved house from the inside as well."MAGNUS ELEBÄCKCEO, MASSPRODUCTIONS Venturing into the heart of Lithuania, Massproductions recently explored one of Kaunas' architectural jewels—the Iljinas family house. Built in 1933, this two-story marvel was a testament to modernity and extravagance, standing tall as one of Kaunas' most exceptional homes. This iconic structure stands as one of Kaunas and Lithuania's most famous interwar modernist buildings, rightfully earning its place as a European Heritage Site. Smudge Tool is made in folded steel sheet with the surprising addition of a wingnut. It comes in one finish only, Yellow Galvanized. "How do you represent a company philosophy through only one of the senses? “Modernist Spirit” is an abstract idea, unrelated to olfactory delight – to bridge that divide is to unlock the experience. What is the scent of modernism? Here’s your answer."- MAGNUS ELEBÄCK "The only thing in the brief was ’not too hippy.’ An incense holder is always on display; it must look good but can be a modern industrial object that enhances ones desire for incense. Smudge Tool is a very functional incense holder with a finish reminiscent of a psychedelic rainbow. "- CHRIS MARTIN In 2020 a Spiritual Stashbox was launched by Axel Boman, Nicole Palacio and Robin Ekemark under the platform Eyes of My Mind. Eyes Of My Mind is a continuation from a song with the same name released on Axel’s record label Studio Barnhus in 2020 that aims to blur the lines between art, design and modern spirituality, capsulated by their motto: ”the only way out is in”. The collaboration between Massproductions and Axel Boman began already in 2021 with an audio interpretation of Massproductions’ sofa, BAM!, produced by Axel. Now, they have moved from exploring sound waves to focusing on scent.
